Research & Writing

Research what interests me. Write what is worth preserving.

My current historical work is increasingly organized through dedicated research, archive, and publishing properties rather than this portfolio site.

Current platforms

Go deeper.

DanElder.com establishes the broader career and intellectual context. The actual research, archive, and publishing work lives on the specialized platforms below.

Current research interests

My work currently concentrates on U.S. Army NCO history, Army leadership and institutional development, Civil War and Reconstruction-era Texas, Bell County history, Federal military authority, preservation, cemeteries, public memory, and military history in place.

Books

My publication record includes authored, edited, compiled, and collaborative works on the noncommissioned officer corps, Army leadership, professional military education, and military history. Rather than duplicate a book catalog here, current and selected titles are presented through the NCO Historical Society publishing site.
