Experience & Legacy

Experience accumulated across very different arenas.

This is not a résumé. It is the professional foundation behind the work I do now.

Military Service

Senior enlisted leadership

More than 26 years in the U.S. Army, including operational and strategic leadership in peace and combat and culminating at the Command Sergeant Major level. The experience shaped my approach to leadership, institutions, accountability, development, and execution.

Entrepreneurship

Building organizations and communities

Created businesses, professional communities, digital platforms, research capabilities, and service organizations. Built teams, developed federal markets, managed growth, supported customers, and operated in the realities of founder-led business.

Research

Applied and historical inquiry

Conducted and supported applied Army research, qualitative and quantitative inquiry, source analysis, archival work, literature review, historical investigation, and public-history projects.

Writing & Publishing

Books, articles, official history, and historical interpretation

Authored, edited, compiled, and contributed to books, monographs, articles, official Army publications, historical essays, and digital research resources, with a sustained emphasis on the NCO corps and military leadership.

Coaching & Education

Developing leaders

Professional Certified Coach, instructor, facilitator, mentor, curriculum contributor, and leader-development practitioner with hundreds of coaching hours and extensive experience helping adults interpret complex leadership challenges.

Public Service

History, preservation, civic participation

Volunteer service with historical, preservation, military, civic, and professional organizations. Current interests include Bell County history, Texas preservation, military history, public memory, and institutions that preserve the record.

What carries forward

The value of a long career is not the collection of titles. It is pattern recognition, judgment, institutional memory, a network of relationships, and the ability to see connections across disciplines that are often treated separately.

What I am building now

A smaller and more intentional portfolio built around research, writing, coaching, advisory work, speaking, preservation, and service. The objective is useful work, intellectual freedom, and a legacy that survives the immediate task or contract.
